Fold the corners, break the silence

On July 19th I was lucky enough to catch Finch at The Glass House in Pomona, CA. I've been a fan for a long time and was bummed when I heard they broke up. So now that they have reunited, I knew I had to seem them live!
So The Glass House is kind of a dinky club. It's in downtown Pomona and from the outside it doesn't look like much. It's the same inside. The place was swarming with scene kids. I missed the first band, Tickle Me Pink, but from what I have heard, I didn't miss much. I walked in during Foxy Shazam's set. They're perform ace with full of energy and it was quite a spectacle to watch. But their music made me want to leave. My boyfriend isn't a fan of indie or whatever they are. He also isn't a fan of the Dresden Dolls. He described Foxy Shazam as a gay version of the Dresden Dolls. They seemed to have a few fans but the crowd didn't know what to make of them, neither did I.
I was almost jumping for joy when their set ended. It should've come sooner. But little did I know, Scary Kids Scaring Kids wasn't going to be much better. The only song I have heard from them is a cover song off of Punk Goes Crunk. The band itself wasn't that bad but the lead singer and the synth player killed it. The lead singer sounded and looked like a douche. He was trying too hard to be Davey Havok, and since AFI has gone mainstream, no one likes Davey Havok. And the guy on the synths, oh my! He looked like a Coheed and Cambria reject and was jumping around like he was the singer. Just shut up already. There were two stage divers during SKSK's set. One jumped off from the center of the stage only to get heckled by security. And the other was less successful. He dived from the right corner of the stage (where I was at). He dove, and no one caught him. He landed on his hip as laughed at. In my opinion, he deserved it. People who stage dive/crowd surf deserve to be kicked. It was great how everyone moved away!
From the end of SKSK's set to Finch setting up felt like forever. I was hot and my feet hurt. Randy came out to set up as was really nice to all the fans. He was talking to a few kids. He gained to some weight so the skinny jeans he was wearing were not flattering. My boyfriend said he looked like a douche but he seems like a real nice guy.
So when Finch hit the stage I was more than excited! They opened with Perfect Through Silence (my favorite song). I don't remember the set list since its been awhile and they played some songs I didn't know. But they did play Stay With Me, Worms of the Earth, and other songs off of What It Is To Burn and Say Hello to Sunshine. They also played some songs off their brand spanking new EP. During their set Nate apologized to the people in the front row because he said he smelled like a yak. Apparently, his cat peed on his shirt and he didn't notice the smell. So when he started sweating he was able to smell it. Ew. Their set was full of energy and playful banter. Nate looks really young is a lot better looking in person. Finch did a great show, and Nate looks like someone I know.
The new Finch EP is available today at your local Hot Topic. It's also available on iTunes.

Here's a link to Randy's blog post about that nights show.

Next Show: Nine Inch Nails @ The Forum in Inglewood, CA.
